Brief description of the organisation and summary of experience relevant to the project

As a Public Centre of Excellence, the «Hospices Civils de Lyon» makes up the second-largest University Hospital Network in France. It is linked with the university Claude bernard Lyon1. For over 200 years, as a network providing expertise in all disciplines – both medical and surgical – the Hospices Civils de Lyon have offered a wide range of human, technical and logistical resources to ensure that they provide care, training, research, medical innovation as well as disease prevention and health education. The HCL also make up a world-class network for the fight against cancer, and are ranked amongst the 25 best hospitals in the world. They are key establishments particularly in neurosciences, genetics and rare diseases.

 

The Cystic Fibrosis centre of Lyon belongs to HCL. It is recognized as a reference centre since 2002 by the French ministry of health and belongs to the ECFS-CTN in collaboration with the paediatric CF centre of Lyon. Both paediatric and adult CF centres works together in a very close collaboration both for care and research projects; both centres are recognized as National reference centre for rare disease (cystic fibrosis) in 2006. They care about 600 CF patients. Adult CF centre cares 300 adult patients and it is the second adult CF centre in France after Cochin centre. It involves 1 CF professor and 3 CF specialists. It has research facilities for clinical research and epidemiology with daily collaboration with clinical research department of HCL (IMER department). It has experience in phase1b, 2 and 3 trials in CF since at least 15 years ago.
Its director is Professor Isabelle Durieu which is also president of the French CF Society. She is PI in various industrial protocols.
